Private Keep Out
Private - Keep Out!
“No Girls Allowed” the big sign said
And “Private” and “Keep Out!”
This is just a boys fort
Girls, go away, I shout!
Tim and Jack and Joe and me
We talked and we agreed
This is just a fort for boys
So girls had best take heed!
We found the wood we needed
Big pieces and some stakes
They were all just laying ‘round
Where that man excavates!
We have the wood we needed
And nails and hammers too!
Jacks dad gave us bright blue paint
And Timmy brought some glue.
I told the guys we’d need more hands
Joe said we were in luck!
He said a new kid moved next door
And that his name is Chuck
We found Chuck in his back yard
With a baseball and a bat
He had a Dodgers shirt on
And a Yankees baseball hat
My gosh! That kid could throw a ball!
And ya shoulda seen him hit!
And every ball we threw to him
Landed in his catchers mitt!
We told Chuck about the fort
And he agreed to join in
He worked circles ‘round us guys
We were so proud of him!
The next day we’re excited
It would be the greatest day!
Only boys in our new fort
Girls had to stay away!
So all us guys were hangin’ out
I said, “Chuck, where’d you get that? ”
I pointed to his head. He said
“Do you want to wear my hat?”
The hat came off and there was hair!
The longest I’d ever seen!
“Chuck” was just a nick-name
Her REAL name is Charleen!
