Procrastination is a wonderful thing.....
It's been so long since I've written here! Like the title implies, I've thought about it many times, but there is always that "I'll do it tomorrow" attitude, and as we all know, tomorrow never comes!
Since I last wrote, I have moved house twice. We uprooted from the flatness of South Lincolnshire Fens to the hills and beaches and scenery of lovely Cornwall in the South West. We'd had this romantic idea that it would be the ideal place for us to see out the rest of our lives in idyllic countryside. And to be honest, Cornwall is truly like this.
Trouble was, we had left behind our eldest daughter and 3 grandkids, Now even though we had our second daughter and son with us in Cornwall, living their own lives but not too far away, the pull of the young grandchildren proved too strong so after 18 months it was back to South Lincolnshire again!
During all this time, I still had a full-time job. I am lucky enough to be able to work from home on a telephone support line. So it really doesn't matter where I live as long as I have decent internet access. I managed to get one magazine article done, as well as a few for the company newsletter, but still never managed to really knuckle down and get some serious writing done, I want to write a novel. I have two in the process of outline, and one actually has a couple of chapters complete. And then procrastination kicks in! With Cornwall, there is just so much to see down there, its an easy distraction. I should have been able to produce loads of possible articles for all sorts of magazines.......but i was having too much of a good time so it was "next time we come here...". Maybe it would be better if I wrote about the experience of moving for desire and then succumbing to heartstrings and moving again! I've got plenty of material for that!
But now it has come to the time where the project I work on will end in 6 months, and while the company will do its best to redeploy the team there is no guarantee, so I am sincerely hoping this will galvanise the creative juices and give me the proverbial boot up the behind to get things moving in the writing sphere. Watch this space!
