Prose - Man and Virgin
This was written a while back for a young couple I know... yes it's true...
Her childhood ends with a celebration
He sees her now, making the final journey
She gazes upon the one
A beautiful bride, pledged to him only
Who will gladly take her hand
The transition of her life has begun
His love making a stand
Yesterday a girl, tonight a woman
Declaring for all the world to see
Bringing her past
His commitment to you for eternity
Change upon her, the future at last
He sees the love within
The expectation of a husband now looms
He gives a vow, never to be broken
His mind, hoping she swoons
The hopes and dreams for a life
The fear of the unknown upon her
He takes the chance, you as his wife
Her mind, worried, unsure
Give him the benefit of the doubt
Patience, understanding, gentleness
Living daily minimizing your pout
Take your time, comfort her duress
Understanding he is merely a man
Tired, thinking of yesterday
Needing a touch as only a woman can
Wondering if fantasy will have its way
From her, he may ask for strength
Wanting to be one
Through his troubles no matter the length
Afraid enough to run
Each of them, an equal in marriage
He will understand
Supporting one another, a loving carriage
He will take her hand
To be gentle and kind
Walk together, explore the new life
Achieving this, you will never find
Being her strength, loving his wife
She struggles with daily strife
Supporting her mind
Instead she will have a peaceful life
A gentle grip and he will find
As man and woman, painting a scene
A willing and wonderful lover
As God intended, a life so serene
Never wondering about any other
Closing the book of fairy tales
Feathering the nest
But being real knowing what life entails
Soft words of love, lest
With her love and support required
Her inner fears
Keeping a marriage inspired
Create the tears
Living beyond the mundane
Loving her whole life through
A twinkling eye, never having to explain
She is life's special gift to you
The deep feelings that have solidified
Change begins for his bride today
Strong enough to fight the constant tide
Let her grow and she will never stray
Of stress, disappointment and expectation
She knows he loves her as no other
Rising above, living a life of elation
Give him the same and be his lover
