Prose - So Far Yet So Close
Is there reason to hope?
Or should it be a dream?
You are far away as the stars
Where distance silences a scream
A picture beckons
With a soft face
Is it your dream too?
Will we ever be in the same place?
As others try to love us
We feel nothing but their eyes
Even though they are near
We are unmoved by their sighs
An ocean as deep as your soul
A bottomless well of temptation
I cannot return to the surface
I must breathe with imagination
How long can I swim
With bursting lungs of love?
When I arrive at the bottom
Will you have swum above?
Where longing is smothered by reality
Is there a reason to swim?
Can you find life from afar?
Or must we die for our life to begin?
