Quiet As A Mouse
I Sit In My House
Yes I may be a little out of the ordinary
But I think I am on to something
When I get home from a long day
I do what I have to unwind
Then after a shower and when I am tired
Before I get into my bed
I go out into the kitchen and pull up a chair
I sit so still
Looking at the whole room around me
With my wife already asleep
I love the house when it is almost unchanged to the human eye
Everywhere I look it looks the same
I know my body is aging at this very moment
How about all the things that fill the room
I think about the quality of the air
The wear and tear on the cabinets
From being opened and closed so many times
Day after day
All the appliances that have so many working parts
Even the electricity that is my source of light
Powers up the laptop and the refrigerator and so many more things I can't remember
I guess what I am trying to say
I love my home
Over the years I have watched
As we have made small changes to make each room nicer
The worn spots on the kitchen floor that I only see
How lucky I am to have lived at this time
With so many conviences at my fingertips
Who knows what tomorrow will bring
I would be happy if it was just like today
