~Rising~

Updated on January 20, 2012

~Prologue~

Coming into realization of self and embracing life...

~Embracing Change~

Rising out of the ashes of poverty

yet I keep rising

until I can't smell the stinch

taunting my very existence

leaving me brittle, motionless

rising, roaring like lions

breaking free

from a long imprisonment

of captivity

misconceptions of history

bordering on the brink of insanity

rising like a wave of unfortold seasons

blessed for no particular reason

they just exist, because it is so

Rising, against the back bone of slavery

crushing through mountains of time

time elapsed

tunneling through to find the light

on the other side

that warms the very essence of my bones

continuously rising, soaring,

above heightened awareness

listening to echoes of my ancestors cries

growing, evolving, transcending, channeling through,

reaching the very depth of my deepest emotions

clamoring to adjust to this new found freedom

pouring out its silhouette upon my brow

until I rise up, take my place, adjust my position

awaken the sleeping vibrations, moving, bursting

dancing against an ominous wind

breaking against tide of life, filtering its agility

remolding, reshaping the very particles of me

until ears can hear, tears sudside, blind eyes see

feel fulness of my energy, hear the trumbone

of my virtuosity, I keep rising

You know it's true. I wish I could "paint pretty pictures" all the time. I wish that was all to paint! Thanks Karen.
