RTH 9 - (I Don't Want To Be An) Anglepoise Lamp

Updated on August 6, 2012
Source

Rocket To Heaven Cycle Pt 9

I don't want to be an anglepoise lamp

I just want everything to be already shown

I don't consider it my job any more

To find out all the things that I've never known

There's a difference between the knowledge and the knowing

There's a difference between the growth and the growing

I don't want to be an anglepoise lamp

I just want everything to be already shown

I don't want to cross the wild frontier

I want to stay in spaces that I've already flown

They say that no man can pause the time or tide

I say let them sleep wherever they choose to hide

I don't want to be an anglepoise lamp

I just want everything to be already shown

It's no longer my job to help things along

I don't care if it's already grown

I'm no longer sure of the difference between bent and straight

All the illuminators want to make me wait

I've got no magic beam to shine

I don't know what the difference is between course and fine

(slowly)

Light shines on the people

Who say they want to stay in the dark

With their sunken eye sockets

Living out west of the park

Small furry animals creeping

Around inside the way I feel

Emoticons are never weeping

What is an even keel?

(faster)

I don't want to be an anglepoise lamp

I just want everything to be already shown

I don't want to be an anglepoise lamp

I just want everything to be already shown

Diamonds leaving trails in the sky

The octopus rises with a cry

I don't want to be an anglepoise lamp

I don't want to be an anglepoise lamp

I don't want to be an anglepoise lamp

I don't want to be an anglepoise lamp

It reminds me of the song we learned in Sunday School: 'Jesus Bids us Shine.' Interesting.
