Red Pandas Kidnapped My Alien Grandson

Red Pandas Kidnapped My Alien Grandson is an extremely good example of an attention grabbing headline. The press are doing it every day. It is one of those which makes you wonder what it is all about. You are likely to click on the link to learn more even if you read no further than this line.

You have been drawn in by curiosity. You may not be especially interested but at the same time you want to know more if just to discard the article as rubbish.

How on earth could a Red Panda or for that matter a dozen Red Pandas kidnap anybody. There is just the possibility that it does not refer to the Lesser Panda Ailurus fulgens at all but to a Colombian bandit named 'Pandas' who due to a bloody past has been nicknamed 'Red'. Then again it could refer to Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections which I daresay could 'kidnap' a child.

Most of us would actually think of a Grandson as a child. We are more inclined to be worried and concerned about a child who had been kidnapped than an adult. That is another draw to the reader, but then every man, no matter what age is a Grandson of somebody. Here the Grandson is of 'My'. Who does 'My' refer to? More interesting if there Grandparent is famous and more likely too. The Grandchildren of poor people are not so often kidnapped.

Then there is the 'Alien'. There is a word that the mind will play with. In the context of 'Red Pandas Kidnapped My Alien Grandson' it is more likely to conjure up thoughts of other worlds because it is an unusual heading. However if it were preceded by 'illegal' we would quickly come down to earth with a bump.

If you have read this far you will have realised that Red Pandas have NOT Kidnapped my Alien Grandson. I do not have a grandson that I am aware of.

The headline is important though because it is a big part of Search Engine Optimization. Hubpages offers you the opportunity to change the title of your hubs. It is worth giving it a go because you may well get more visitors. Just changing a title can make all the difference. The book 'The Art of Controversy' never reached sales of 10,000 a year. When its title was changed to 'How To Argue Logically' the sales shot up to 30,000 a year. Only the name had changed! Nothing else.

The key is to grab your prospective readers attention.....and of course write about the subject your headline refers to. That is just what I have done here. If you have read to the end then my attention grabbing headline has worked and you now realise its importance. Thank you for reading.
