Reflective Meditation- Poetry

Updated on February 27, 2016

I am a writer of poetry and fiction. I especially love flash fiction. My name is Ruby, and I live in Southern Illinois. I am a retired R.N.

Breathe Deeply Exhale Slowly

Breathe deeply and please refrain

From reminiscing back to hurtful pain

Just let the moment soothe, caressing you as it takes you away

To distant shores of sweet yesterday

Breathe deeply, exhale slowly once more

Eyes closed, the inner soul reaching for an unopened door

Even though it is snowing again outside

You're toasty warm inside

Breathe deeply, exhale slowly let the moment live within

Where thoughts calmly take you to a higher horizon

Savor the distance you have traveled thus far

Listen fervently as the rolling tide guides you toward a twinkling star

Envision the fluffy clouds as they form images of angels and heavenly hosts

Trumpets, singing, laughter the golden gate posts

Breathe deeply, exhale slowly and dream of a bright sunlit day tomorrow

Where everything is in perfect harmony, void of inward sorrow

Soon warmth will again cover this frigid earth

And bring back bubbling brooks and seeds of miraculous new birth.

I wrote this yesterday when it was snowing again. I hope you have the time to watch the video. It is wonderfully relaxing.

      Ruby,

Pls check this hub. It is amazing how when we are all alike, we think alike. I have written some on similar lines. Our thoughts resemble.

Hello Ann. I'm so happy that you enjoyed this. The angel was a typo. Thank you for mentioning it. I love to meditate and the words came with the feeling of serenity. Love and peace..

This is stunningly beautiful. You gave me a feeling of relaxing serenity with hope and beauty before me.

Superb imagery and great choice of words, Ruby.

(did you mean 'angles' or 'angels'? I really wasn't sure!)

I agree with Bill that this is the best of your poems so far.

John, thank you so much for telling me about my typo in the title. I reread this twice before posting but not the title. I'm surprised it was featured. Thanks again. I appreciate you!

Hi Surabhi. So good to see you. When we take the time to meditate and clear all thoughts, then we can hear the music of contentment. Thank you sweet poetess.

Hi Mike. I seemed to be in different writing moods lately. Poetry is my first love. I remember when I first started writing I wanted to rhyme everything I wrote. I am glad to see you writing poetry again. I missed it. Thank you...
