Neighboring Birds that make us SMILE...

"Here I am once again, kinda well...LOVER MAN TOO, So, "By, By FLU, we're through with you"! So now we're Enjoying the Spring like weather in Florida land. We've been COLD, almost ALL of March, with our temperatures dipping into the 30's and 40's at night, and staying in the high 60's, and low 70's by day. Believe me, I'm NOT complaining coming from South Jersey... I'm just saying that it DOES feel like Spring, Beautiful Spring, a time of renewal, of rebirth and lots of BIRDS... This is their story, and I'm sticking to it...even if it gets a little X rated... The TRUTH must be told.

I'll start with the "Pelicans", that make their home in and around the Marina that our "Condo w/the View" overlooks. Some of the" guys" with the BIG Fishing boat do NOT like them, because the "Pelicans" think they are ENTITLED to part of the catch! Are the "Pelicans" being POLITICALLY CORRECT? After all isn't there 2 cement "Pelicans" adorning the entrance way to the Maria? YES there is! And so the "Pelicans" walk the piers...The "Fishing Guys" try to chase them off. Which of course turns out to be a NO WIN situation... The "Pelicans just WALK away, or jump into the water. In the end, the "Pelicans" WIN, and their prize is some of the delicious FISH. So what do you think... Are they really ENTITLED...I'll let you be the judge.

Next are the "LAUGHING BLACK CROWS". I'm really not sure what they are, but they are BIG, and BLACK, and look like CROWS, and they LAUGH at EVERYTHING! They fly to the Palm trees near our Lanai, find a spot and just LAUGH THEIR HEADS OFF...Especially when they see the "Fishing Guys' vs. the "Pelicans"...You can only guess who they've bet on. The good part is, they don't stay long...Maybe they get some of the catch as well!

Now I've saved the BEST for last...The Northern Mocking bird, Florida's State Bird...

Last Sunday, Lover Man, and I decided to have Breakfast out to celebrate feeling HEALTHY once again. So we went to one of Florida's Beautiful outdoor Malls. After a delicious Breakfast, and feeling FULL, we decided to walk around. It was Beautiful out, the sun was shining warmly down, temp, in the 70's, life was good. Suddenly I look up, and what do I see, 2 cute little "State Birds" perched up above a small Jewelry shop. All of a sudden the "MALE" State Bird, hops over and MOUNTS the little "FEMALE" State Bird from behind. "OMG, I say to Lover Man, would you look at that"! He follows my gaze up...But doesn't see anything because the little Male, has moved over...but wait, here he comes again, (pardon the pun) over to her, and once again, MOUNTS HER FROM BEHIND. "Maybe they are in Love", Lover Man says. "Really, I say, or maybe she's just a CHEAP DATE... Who "Puts Out" over a store where ANYONE walking by can see'. "Well, Maybe he's already taken her out for Breakfast and now...a little afternoon delight" he says smiling down at me. "Mmm, or maybe he's just a "Birdbrain" I say, as we both laugh, and look up to see him mounting her ONE MORE TIME. "Oh let's get out of here I say, and hope that he'll be done soon". "You know, Lover Man says softly as we walk along, I remember our First Date and the "Chinese Dinner" and us going back to your apartment, and it got late, and you stretched and yawed and said, "are you staying or leaving"...and I stayed and I never left... and we lived together for almost 3 years... and then got Married... and that was 28 years ago"... "Well, I sighed taking his hand as we continued to walk...Maybe there is hope for our 2 little State Birds!

So my dear reader friends, what do you think?
