Sacrifice - 47th Good Word in the Good Words Project.
Sacrifice
The 47thGood Word in the "Good Words Project."
The Light 2 Love, Good Words Project was created by Joanna Goldsmith, (Jo_Goldsmith11) to inspire her fellow hubbers to be the best writers/authors/poets we can be.
When Jo told me about the project, I made a promise to write a Poem for each "Good Word" given us, and express what that word means to me.
A special thanks to you Jo for inspiring us Hubbers to keep on writing.
The meaning of Sacrifice
abandon, surrender, forgo, renounce, forfeit, relinquish, resign, abdicate;
Sacrifice to me is: To deny oneself for someone else.

Some folks sacrificed their all
That someone else might live
And gave up everything
They were asked to give
Still others gave of themselves
Even though they were not asked
Just because they saw the need
And could not or would not let it pass
Some would sacrifice their soul
For the unattainable pot of Gold
At the end of every rainbow is where it's kept
At least that's what we've all been told
Was God’s sacrifice for naught?
To sacrifice His Beloved Son
Do you ever wonder what He thought?
Was it the saving of our souls he sought?
Have you ever wondered?
Where you and I would be?
Had God not sacrificed, His only Son
For you and me?
I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country"
