Sacrifice - 47th Good Word in the Good Words Project.

Updated on August 24, 2016

Sacrifice

The 47thGood Word in the "Good Words Project."

The Light 2 Love, Good Words Project was created by Joanna Goldsmith, (Jo_Goldsmith11) to inspire her fellow hubbers to be the best writers/authors/poets we can be.

When Jo told me about the project, I made a promise to write a Poem for each "Good Word" given us, and express what that word means to me.

A special thanks to you Jo for inspiring us Hubbers to keep on writing.

The Rainbow is God's promise no more destroying the earth by floods.

The meaning of Sacrifice

abandon, surrender, forgo, renounce, forfeit, relinquish, resign, abdicate;

Sacrifice to me is: To deny oneself for someone else.

Sacrifice

© by Shyron Shenko

Some folks sacrificed their all

That someone else might live

And gave up everything

They were asked to give

Still others gave of themselves

Even though they were not asked

Just because they saw the need

And could not or would not let it pass

Some would sacrifice their soul

For the unattainable pot of Gold

At the end of every rainbow is where it's kept

At least that's what we've all been told

Was God’s sacrifice for naught?

To sacrifice His Beloved Son

Do you ever wonder what He thought?

Was it the saving of our souls he sought?

Have you ever wondered?

Where you and I would be?

Had God not sacrificed, His only Son

For you and me?

I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country"

— Nathan Hale

“The thing about Truth is it can be denied”

Understand The Rump is throwing tantrums at the G-7 in Canada today. I wonder if the sacrifice we are all making is worth the Trump presidency?

Our country has lost so much respect and stature in the world since The Rump took over. Shame on Republicans for letting this happen and for not reigning The Rump in long ago.. I also understand it's no longer the Republican Party, but the Trump Party.

Unfortunate that we will all have to suffer as a result of a few voters deciding that they wanted to shake things up and put evil in the Oval Office. I hope they are thrilled beyond measure for destroying our democracy and making the U.S. the laughing stock of the world. I really hope they will sleep better now. I think things have gone so far that bringing this country back to being the world leader in my lifetime is not a possibility.

What amazes me is that some people still wonder/ask, "why can't we all just get along?"

Thought I would share this excellent poem again. Sacrifice often happens and no one notices. Parents sacrificing for children especially, but other people do it too. I know I was sacrificed when I worked for the city.

Again, hope all is well there. Blessings and hugs for you both. Take care . . .

Au fait, thank you for the comments and for sharing this hub again.

I heard about the temperatures reaching 100 on Monday and that is the day I will be cutting grass again. Tomorrow is water day, Sunday is a day of rest and Monday is grass cutting day.

I am sorry to hear you were not accepted in the program. I hope you can find a way to make the change to get accepted.

You take care of yourself and Blessings and hugs.

There are many different things people sacrifice for and ways in which they sacrifice. Of course the ultimate sacrifice was the one made by God and His only Son. Have you ever wondered what makes people sacrifice for others? An thought provoking poem I think, and as always you seem to know the exact words to choose. I hope you will put all your poems together in a book all your own. I think they can stand alone very well.

Sharing this again. Hope all is well with you and John. We are to have awful temperatures beyond 100 in a day or so, so I hope your outdoor chores are caught up so you don't have to go outside.

I went to the clinic yesterday, but my health issues were too risky for them to accept me into their program right now. They said if I got them addressed I could be in their program at that time. So I get to keep my blood for now and will have to figure something else out. Blessings to you and John and please take care f yourselves.

Susie (colorfulone) thank you for the comment and compliment. Without God's sacrifice, I think we would all be lost if we ever were in the first place.

Au fait, thank you my dear friend for your comments. Is this inevitable, I think yes, this is what is going to happen to our planet if things don't turn around quickly. "He who has all the marbles wins?" Wins what? A dead planet? Maybe that is the way it is supposed to be, and greed will destroy greed.

      Blessings and Hugs

Looks like it is going to be a beautiful day.

I believe I would be left behind one day if God had not sent His, Son, had I not received Him as Lord. This is beautiful, Shyron.

Just now listened to the video. Excellent. What a shame to destroy all those beautiful trees. The animals will die because their habitat is gone.

Once we have finally destroyed all the trees and our oceans -- remember my article about how together these things provide our oxygen? Then our work will finally be done.

God created a beautiful planet just for us and look what we have done to it. Those in charge won't be satisfied until the whole planet looks just like in that video.

Interesting how people shouted and screamed about leaving a huge tax debt to their children, and that turned out to be lies. Yet we are going to force our children to live in a giant landfill, or worse, if things don't change soon, but hardly anyone seems concerned about that.

Truth is that we are sacrificing our planet to the Money God. Why dream of relocating to Mars when in just a few more years Earth will look just like it?

Because all but no one has read the Bible, I bet they don't know that destroying this planet is a sin. A cardinal sin. So what are most people doing all of the time? Worshipping mammon and destroying the earth. And walking around full of pride calling themselves Christians. They must truly belive God is a stupid old man to imagine they are fooling Him. Guess who they are really fooling . . .

Michael-Milec, thank you for the compliment, up-votes and comment, I do appreciate you. I know that most people sacrifice in some way, for someone or something. I know that God sacrificed his son for our sins, and sometimes I wonder if it was worth it.

Blessings and Peace to you also

Oh Shyron, you picked one perhaps most meaningful word 'sacrifice' and put in poetic language not missing its thorough comprehension .

Giving ones "all"or ' themselves' as God the Creator sacrificed His dearest and the best for the better cause. Yes, the only way to get His estrange child back into the heavenly Father's family was the BLOOD sacrifice the dearest and the best... Thus we have it: an act of slaughtering an animal or person ( origin of recorded in the Bible) or surrendering a possession as an offering... the greatest sacrifice giving ones own life for a friend- said Jesus.

      Voted across but funny.

      Peace and blessing.

I didn't notice this before. You snuck it out! Yes, one usually sacrifices something for their children, their spouse, or someone who needs something more than they do. And some people sacrifice all for gold or fame. The price really is too high for some things and those are things I often don't want badly enough to do what is required to get them.

I often wonder if God still thinks His sacrifice was worth it. Looking around this world and seeing all the ugliness sometimes done in the name of God, what has God truly gained with His sacrifice? Thinking about the story of how Judas played such an important part and how so many things had to work just right or all would be lost, yes even Jesus would could have been lost, I wonder at our Saviors bravery also. He knew what He was facing and the possibility that things could go very wrong. No wonder He sweat blood! And He did it for us . . .

Excellent thoughts and words that are very thought provoking. Voted up and BAUI, also pinned to Awesome HubPages and shared. Great photo too. I couldn't play the video. Maybe later tonight where I won't disturb anyone.

Either you are getting quick Shyron or I am getting slow. Back to your verse. I began to view the video but stopped because I ceased saying 'sorry' too much. I use say it when I bumped into someone, when I made them drop their pen or when I could not even talk to them at that time - and many other reasons.

You have a way of describing words and their meanings which is different. I voted it up+++, shared, pinned and Tweeted it.

Hopefully, we can each point to examples in our lives of those who have given unselfishly on our behalf. I hope, too, we take the time to extend thanks to them for their service, good spirit, intent, selfless love, and generosity.

I love your poem about sacrifice. I thought about the many men and women who gave their life for our freedom. The policeman who are killed protecting us. The poor parents who go without to educate their children. They are real heros. And yes, God gave his only son that we might have life everafter. Beautiful words you've written Shyron. Thank you..Hugs my faithful friend...
