Santa at the Mall
A lot of kids were upset when they found out Santa was not real, I was more creeped out the fact my parents made me take a picture sitting on a strangers lap and kept it for years.
Odd Christmas Ritual
As a child I sat in Santa’s broad lap
Dreaming of presents I was to unwrap
A scary old man in a red velvet suit
Whether he’s real, I couldn't refute
I waited in line, a photo was snapped
No longer within his grasp was I trapped
As I became older, the truth was revealed
Innocence lost no more need for a shield
Something that struck me as funny and odd
My parents aware of Santa’s façade
Placed with a man, a virtual stranger
Luckily no chance of being in danger
A picture with someone who was in disguise
Kept as a memory, adds to my surprise
A great way to "break the news" to kids.
