Scary Hairy Ice Slick Blues
Scary Hairy Ice Slick Blues by Diana Pierce
Choosing to live on a side hill,
Will have its ups and downs,
Not bad to get through summers,
But winters can be so swell.
An ice slick forms down my driveway,
Water oozes from a side hill spring,
Slowly making travel scary,
Should I say it’s a little hairy?
Chickens have no right to live here,
Not daring to leave their nest,
When running water freezes a river run,
Four-wheel-drive can’t do its best.
If you’re lucky you’ll find a summer job,
If you’re smart you’ll leave this dive,
No matter what you decide to do,
Be thankful you’re still alive.
My winter ride needs replaced,
If I decide to stay here,
But if I move some place new,
The cost of it would break me.
Not sure what I should do,
Winter blues seem to stay,
As for this dreadful ice slick,
There will soon be warmer days.
