Seeking Perfection

Updated on November 6, 2012

I am an artist, designer, photographer and writer. See more of my work on cmariearts.

We are all looking for that peace

That to make us whole

Trying to seek

Where we will look least

We will find

In the dark corners

Of our minds

Beyond the scraps

The tattered veil

There lies the all

To which we prevail

Among the piles of dirt

That which we see

Lies in plain sight

Our beauty

Don't be afraid

Of what you will find

You might be surprised

What trails behind

"The appearance of things changes according to the emotions, and thus we see magic and beauty in them, while the magic and beauty are really in ourselves." —Kahlil Gibran

Very true. We must not be afraid to look beyond what we see, we may be surprised.

Ah, it is purity and contentment I seek: perhaps the imperfect is the PERFECT. And Khalil Gibran is my own muse as I write and attempt to relate to life and finding the beauty in what I do, how I speak and how I live...

      Wow...awesome message, Caroline!

There is nothing wrong with seeking perfection within ourselves - as long as we never believe we have found it!

The Dahli Lama said almost the same thing: (paraphrasing, of course): Don't be afraid of your light - it is your responsibility to fan it and keep it bright!

      Loved this, dear..

      sharing forward

Yes, sometimes our most obvious beauty or the beauty we seek in others is right there for all to see. We don't see perfection. We seek the heart that mirrors what we feel and how we feel it... all loves have their own different perfections somehow... our hearts tell us.

This is a wonderful hub, Caroline. Thank you for this. :)

Shining, shimmering poem. I agree with CrisSp about embracing our imperfections. Can I share it to my Facebook profile? If you don't mind. :)

Voted up. A really nice poem. In this world of ours I think it might be a very difficult if not impossible task to find perfection. Better to look for the perfection in our selves and inner beauty.

Nicely penned and I like the quote from Kahlil Gibran, which is oh, so true on depicting our inner beauty.

      Embracing imperfection!
