Setbacks Are Not Permanent

Updated on July 27, 2012

Look Forward Not Back

When I make a mistake I will be the first to tell you

I did it this time

I don't know why it didn't work out the way I planned

Now I feel like I am that egg on the frying pan

I don't have any quick solution

I can't erase my mistake with a big eraser no matter how much I try

My feelings have hit an all time low

Now what do I do

After fifteen minutes to let me pause and think

Now it's time to take a deep breath and turn what disappointments I feel into a meatloaf

Lets eat it bite by bite

I what to savour the flavor to remember what it feels like but I don't need it hanging around

I want to remember how I turned this meatloaf into a ball of energy

One that made me full when I was hungry

One that served a purpose I didn't see until now

It made me apreciate every good choice a little bit more

See things as if they are

Not always perfect and sometimes far from it

In time they will be better but for now we have to accept it and make room for change

When our mind opens up to a good alternative then more ideas start to flow

Thoughts become ideas that we can work with

Put away the kleenex and wipe your eyes

Scrape off the old paint off and put on a fresh coat

The sooner we feel better then more good plans can be made

Instead of feeling sick to our stomach after the third donut we know we shouldn't of eaten

We have to look for inspiration whereever we can find it

It might be from a neighbor or a close friend

Maybe from your mother or your wife

A tip from dad or just advice that some day might save your life

Whatever it may be and whereever you find it

Take it from me it will make you feel so much better

Almost like one of those chocolate turtles I couldn't resist

I had to eat it

Each bite was chewy and tasty and I wanted more

A craving and a desire for something that I love

For others it might be going to the hairdressor for all those with split ends

I have to leave now to find something else to marvel at

No time to waste and my energy is slowly recharging

Off to a good day and the rain has stopped and I know the sun is there somewhere

I will just have to look a little harder and draw one if I don't see one

Because I know how much I love the sunlight and everything bright

kj force It is a long story. If you have the time I would love to share. For now I am walking a tight rope and using all my skills to stay perfectly balanced. As you know one slip and down I go.I am confident I have what it takes but we always have to leave room for error.I feel a gust of wind blowing so I have to really focus but as always my thoughts are on paper and I will be glad to spread them out like a spread sheet.I am tryng my best to keep out of the red and on to the greatest day I have ever lived.Thanx so much and may your day turn out great.

DREAM were inspired by a meatloaf ? or was that a metaphor ? sounds a bit like you are craving chocolate..what exactly set you back ? many questions ponder me at this time..something gone awry in 'Hubland " ? enjoyed your poem but a bit confused..maybe I'm just tired..need sleep...good night...
