Seven for Summer - Haiku

Updated on May 28, 2012
Source

Timid buds loosen.

Leaves fill trees, branches heavy.

Bursts of color. Life!

A rustle in the

flower bed. Happy chipmunk.

A fat cat pounces!

Ripe red tomato.

Cucumbers on the vine. Soon

a garden salad.

Sweat stings eyes, soaks shirt.

Mower roars, kicks up a rock.

Frosty beer awaits.

Warm breeze fails to cool.

Not a cloud in the blue sky.

Ice cream drips down chins.

Flash. Crash. Sheets of rain.

Sudden shocking storm erupts.

Day's heat is tempered.

Fennelseed - That's right. It's winter down there! Funny how this silly globe we live on works... I spend a good amount of time mowing my large yard. It is sometimes hot, sweaty, dirty work, but I enjoy it. Thanks for the votes!

I'm getting by okay, Dana. It's been hectic, dealing with stuff, and the death of my cat...but I'm doing okay. Did a lot of research today on freelance writing for different places. We'll see how I do with that! Not knowing what tomorrow brings can be frustrating as far as how you feel. I wish the best for you.

Vicki - Glad you like this. Whe I wrote it I was totally infatuated with the summer weather and all the things it brings.

I am feeling well tonight. And on the one hand glad to feel good, on the other hand frustrated bacause I don't know why this is a good night and I don't know what tomorrow will bring. I could be fine, I could feel horibble. I am going to figure it out. I have to! Thanks for asking. I am using that last poem I wrote as a little extra encouragement.... How are you? Hope things are going well for you.

Wow, Dana, your haiku warmed my chilly Australian winter's day!! I just love your mowing haiku and relate as mowing in summer is a big part of my life!!! (the chilled white waiting makes it all worth the effort.)

Lovely haiku, my votes and best wishes to you and sharing.

Bill - thank you for taking the time to read and comment. You always give me such encouragement...

I am dying to write some "real" hubs. There is an ever growing list writng themselves in my head. I have been having some difficulties with exhaustion and just haven't been able to write. Doc appointment number 2 tomorrow. I think the strategy is going to be writing a paragraph here and there because you know me, I am miserable if I am not writing!
