Shades of Blue: a Poem

Updated on October 30, 2013
Blue can evoke so many feelings

The glorious blue of summer sky

               cloudless and free

clears the mind; warms the soul.

The chilling blue of a mountain lake

                  is somehow inviting,

                                       despite of its chill tone.

The hot-baked blue of a desert sky

                                  numbs the brain

                                                      and suffocates energy.

 Midnight blue of darkest night

                  masks imperfections

                                     and polishes the stars.

Green-blue, sea blue

                     of tumbled ocean depths

                                     washes cares away.

 Clear bright blue of

                 a baby's eyes

project innocence to all the world.

My soft and cuddly

                            fuzzy blue blanket

                                           wards off the chill

                                                                            and welcomes dreams.

Hi, blue is my favourite colour! so I love this, there are so many blues, even water is blue, did you know that? drinking water I mean, so the sea isn't blue because of the reflection of the sky, it is blue on it's own, isn't that lovely? great poem cheers nell

DzyMsLizzy - Certainly a very bold piece of artwork for a nicely serene poem. Enjoyable.

Lovely, soothing and rhythmic like the gentle splashing of waves on a bayside beach. Thanks for sharing.
