She Danced - Then Paused But For A While

Updated on August 16, 2013

She danced then paused but for a while... to tell the story she was here to tell. The story that would be her story, her journey, her life... and she danced!

She danced then paused but for a while... longing for her mothers touch, her mothers love, like mothers do. For arms to hold her when she was down...to guide her and tell her she could...like mothers should. Yet, it was not to be...and yet she danced!

She danced then paused but for a while... to be mother to the boys who were her brothers. They longed as well for a mothers love, and so she gave, and became what she could not have. At nine years young, she was the one who loved, and gave what mothers give...and then she danced!

She danced then paused but for a while... as one by one the boys would grow and leave the nest, be free and fly, but yet she never wondered why this had to be her story. She simply did what mothers do, or sisters perhaps, when mothers wont...and still she danced!

She danced then paused but for a while... at last to fly all on her own. Free to live and fall in love. And so she did. She fell in love with all her dreams. The man she married stole her heart, and for fifty-one, yes fifty-one, they would not part...and how she danced!

She danced then paused but for a while...to love her family would be her call. Nine in all she loved and held and nurtured, like mothers do. That would be her joy in life, to be a mother and a wife. She watched those children grow until, one by one they grew and flew, and she would set them free...and again she danced!

She danced then paused but for a while... to usher in those golden years, or so they're called. So quick to get there, so it seemed, with all its illness, aches and pains. No complaints, no none at all. With the love of her life, her soul mate, by her side, together they would laugh, and love and cry, and she would journey on to write the pages of this most incredible story...and she continued to dance!

She danced then paused but for a while...to ponder all the things she'd seen, the life she'd lived and where she'd been. Then with strength from only God, she rose with eyes so full of love, she looked around and pointed. She need not say a single word, they all knew, they all heard. This is my life, she would say. With those eyes, they all knew, as she looked around the room. This is my story, and you were in all the best chapters. So don't be sad. I was sent to tell this story and take this journey with you, with all of you...and in her heart she danced!

She danced then paused but for a while... to finish this story she came to tell. I soon would know that she would be a part of all our stories, just as we are a part of hers. They all together would form just one. When her story ends, ours has begun. Then out of the silence she woke, but for a fleeting moment. Again with strength from only God, she seemed to want to say. I go to write another story now, in another book. The book of Life. So keep the story alive and well and never cease to tell it and live it, and it shall never end. With that she would write her last word of her last chapter in this book, but the book lives on. Her story, the one she came to tell, lives on...and forever she danced!
