Shift in Paradigm
The older views have no longer meaning
When life approaches twilight gleaming
Each time we take on a new idea
The picture tends to come quite clear
Guilt and fear no longer hold power
As comes such the twilight hour
Pages flipping slowly reading
Finding little of our hearts bleeding
We search for answers day to day
Seeking courage as we may
Taking things one day at a time
Lifes eternal rhythm and rhyme
Grin and bear it we say to ourselves
We sit and ponder life's small swells
And realize we are but pieces
A larger puzzle, a life long treatise
And though we think we should find purpose
In others lives, their songs to surface
In truth it is our own believing
Our own hearts we are deceiving
Arms outstretched we take it all in
Processing each and every whim
Dragging out those things we treasure
Their value we try to weigh and measure
We try to come to small conclusions
Bring each and every life's illusion
Paint our pictures, write our songs
Yet through it all we feel quite strong
Knowing our own future we now create
No longer trying to emulate
Others signs, signals, and power
Inside we find our own at this hour
And so it is, a shift required
Something to be seen and indeed admired
A paradigm of personal proportion
Smoothing our lives better than any ocean
