A Shooting Star

Updated on October 5, 2011

A Shooting Star

On this night

I looked out the window

Up to a moonless blue-black sky

Clouds like torn cotton

Drifted to the east

As cool winds blew

Amidst the cotton strands

I saw a light

Silver-white sliding

Disappearing silently

My heart leapt

I wished aloud

So that I could hear

My first thought

I wished to love you

As best I could

I folded my arms

Rested my head upon them

Closed my eyes

And let myself

Glow with pride
