Shut Your Mouth!!
SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!
SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
Don’t speak unless you’re spoken to
You don’t decide when I am wrong
Taught by pain is how I grew
Fire burned, but made me strong
At one time all things were new
And I’ve surprised you all along
So fret about what some will do
But shut it- let me sing my song!!
When in need I will cry out
But you can’t save what wouldn’t drown
What is gained if I would doubt?
It won’t change for what I’m bound
What’s this drama all about?
You can’t lose what I have found
Now hear my defiant shout!
My voice will make a sound!!
How can you doubt!
What more must I do to prove it to you?
How can you doubt!
What more must I do to prove it to you?
I feel your doubt
Step away and I will prove it to you
Watch me prove it to you
Again I’ll prove it to you
So SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
I was never yours to lose
Insanity is nowhere near
I come to you because I choose
Just help me medicate my fear
Seems it’s you that is confused
The dance is dumb if you can’t hear
Watch your Don’ts become my Do’s
And hear my voice ring loud and clear!
You tell me that I’ll never soar
Your doubt of me is not the first
You’ve said “It Can’t Be Done” before
I even DID when it was worse
You think small, I will have more
I want it all to quench my thirst
Your time’s passed-I have the floor
Listen up for my next verse!
How can you doubt!
What more must I do to prove it to you?
How can you doubt!
What more must I do to prove it to you?
I feel your doubt
Step away and I will prove it to you
Watch me prove it to you
Again I’ll prove it to you
So SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
(angry)
I’ve proved you wrong before
It’s time you face this
Just open up your eyes
I will make You ….Be…lieve!!!
So SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
So SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
Just SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
When I wrote “Shut Your Mouth!”- which is a song in every sort of way- I wasvery influenced by the band Linkin Park- my favorite band at the time, and still one of the best I’ve heard in their ability to communicate Confusion and Frustration in a graphic a raw manner. I’ve followed their maturation and growth from an Angry, Bitter beginning with their first album “Hybrid Theory” to their latest one, “Minutes to Midnight”. I LOVE this album! This time they don’t scream bitterly at their problems, but they explore the Reasons and Meanings for them. It’s loaded with great tracks: “Shadow of the Day,” “Leave Out All the Rest,” and “What I’ve Done,” all show LinkinPark’s new, calmer, more introspective attitude. But my favorite song on this album is “Bleed It Out”………. “Bleed it Out,” what a great insight! Why didn’t I think of that line?
I’ve been on a roller-coaster ride with my Psychiatrist, a brilliant man who is one of the definitive experts on Head Injuries in the World. Just when I feel like I know his next move and like I’m doing a pretty damn good job with my recovery, he ROCKS me with what feels like attacks on my intellect and credibility. Have you ever been insulted by a literal genius, in a language only known to creatures of a higher IQ? It really SUCKS! So, these lyrics which I’ve written fit EXACTLY to the rhythm of “Bleed It Out.” Linkin Park could literally use the same everything of this song and insert my lyrics. (since mine are better). SO, this is my “defiant shout” out against my gifted adversary/ blessing. So, Doctor, if you’re reading this- this one’s for you…..and Thank You. NOW SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
