Silence Calls To Me
Silence
It beckons deafening sound of silence
My mind whispers over and over in my head
It's infernal noise threatening
Choking off all conscious thought
Silence cries the shadow of the sun as it slips beyond dark clouds
Silence
whispers carried by the movement of the wind
As it rustles the leaves on the trees
The wispy rustling trees move with purpose as I ventured through
The wet mossy leaves beneath the limbs
Of the majestic Oak come away, come away
Silence
As I tread softly upon the crispness of the leaves that underfoot
That underfoot grips black sole shoes
And still, I venture into woods black with the coming storm
The call of the baby birds and crickets in unison
Deafening within the silence of the Night
Silence
The colorless drab walls of the wooden cabin
Moans with the wind the strike of a match ignites a flame
And all around me silence
Rain beats down on top of metal roof in beautiful symphony
Shutters vibrate with the howling wind rustling the loosened rafters
The old grandfather clock ticks the seconds
As creaky staircase beneath loafers wet with dew
Squeaks silence
Faucett moan eerily as water courses through pipes rusted with age
Sputtering on and off until lines fill to capacity.
Written in 2011, I love old barns it's how I imagined an old barn I took pictures of on one of Keiths and my drive into the Country.
