Since You've Been Gone ~ A Memoriam

Updated on February 23, 2012

My world has changed since you’ve been gone.

Not as bright as it used to be.

I miss your hugs and gentle ways

Your sweet face I need to see.

Now and then I’ll catch your perfume

dancing across the wind

Flowery tones wrapped in love

Are those messages that you’re trying to send?

When life has weighed me down so low

and I want to hide from everyone

Your comforting soul visits me

From my shoulders, you take a ton.

A broken family, we do remain

Motherless children trying to survive

Remembering wisdom and lessons taught

Bruised and battered, but we are still alive.

Your grandchildren miss their Nanny

The great-grandchildren do, too

We share our memories of better days

Our laughter shared with you.

Stories they’ve heard a million times

We laugh at the same old parts

A little glimpse of a love now gone

But you’ll always live within our hearts.

Yes, my world has changed a lot

You’ve been gone eleven years today

I’ll miss you in my soul for now

but one day God will send me your way.

Perspycacious, thank you for your wise comment! I talk to my mother all the time and she usually answers me in my dreams.

      Thanks for stopping by!

A mother's love was the subject of one of mine, too. Yours is beautiful. Of course, if your mother was still here, she would listen carefully then ask "What do you think you should do?" It's a question you can ask yourself for her. I bet she'll give you a warm feeling if your answer is a workable and wise one.

"Flowery tones wrapped in love" that kind of says it all, not just perfume or poetry but your memories. Lovely poem. Voted up. Thanks for SHARING.

Just beautiful. Such a heartwarming and lovely tribute to your mom. I miss mine too. This March 24 will be 16 years since my mom has been gone.

So beautifully written filled with wonderful memories. It brought back memories of my Mom who passed away when I was very young. I really enjoy this and you got my votes on it!

This is a lovely poem. We use to call our grandmother Nanny. Wow. She died a long time ago, but you brought back so many memories. Wish I could give you more then just one thumbs up, I really do.

Bill, yes, this is number 30! I'm thinking about turning around and doing it again, but I might take a few days to catch up on the other people I follow before I do. I've been so focused on the 30/30, I've missed a lot of hubs and commenting!

      Thanks for the comment!

Is this 30? Congratulations for a job well-done, and you capped it off with a gret memorial to your mother. I love your work and look forward to your next as always.
