Since You've Been Gone ~ A Memoriam
My world has changed since you’ve been gone.
Not as bright as it used to be.
I miss your hugs and gentle ways
Your sweet face I need to see.
Now and then I’ll catch your perfume
dancing across the wind
Flowery tones wrapped in love
Are those messages that you’re trying to send?
When life has weighed me down so low
and I want to hide from everyone
Your comforting soul visits me
From my shoulders, you take a ton.
A broken family, we do remain
Motherless children trying to survive
Remembering wisdom and lessons taught
Bruised and battered, but we are still alive.
Your grandchildren miss their Nanny
The great-grandchildren do, too
We share our memories of better days
Our laughter shared with you.
Stories they’ve heard a million times
We laugh at the same old parts
A little glimpse of a love now gone
But you’ll always live within our hearts.
Yes, my world has changed a lot
You’ve been gone eleven years today
I’ll miss you in my soul for now
but one day God will send me your way.
