      jhamann ,

      Thanks for the visit .

No one care about Syrians, especially about kids who die every day by bomb barrels and now by snow in camps in neighbouring countries .Why should Charlie Hebdo deaths mean a lot? All I can say :Hypocrisy!!!

In my opinion this is an example of what poetry should accomplish, it brings to light the reality of the world and the emotions and sometimes horror of being a part of this human race. Jamie

      James,

Yes, I understand; what you're saying is clear and sound. Discord is never pleasant. You have helped me to pay more attention to this crisis. Thank you. Manipulation and evil at any level is odious- I can't feel what those taking refuge are getting a whiff of, but it's not good, and I don't like the sense of anything not good. Therefore I feel for them. Thank you for exchanging thoughts here.

Compassion is what makes us human. There are some people who are strongly compationate, they can fell into the feelings of another person, their joys, their sufferings, they can feel those experiences as their own and there are others also on the other side who could be connected with other human beings at a very profound level but used that for manipulative and ultimately evil purposes like what Hitler did to Germans and now ISIS to Syrians. The same old thing keeps repeating itself again and again.Peripheries, bubbles, cacophony of hoots, cackles, and shouts under domes, zero outcomes,no gate to save a life or a bucket of water to put out huge Syrian fire.

...I feel also, that in the quantum physics of all our being ( and I don't know much about that) but somehow in the little bit I study on the "whole picture" even in the smallest effort of one giving attention and attraction to the miseries of another in distant city, the hand who sends the sage shall deliver, it just may not, or even have to be you or I....The city doings are in the middle of the Venn Diagram and in the appointed time will be well, with hopes that everything that connects and circles with it will be well too. Emotional intelligence says: compassion is always logical!

They are paying a heavy price of demanding freedom but one day, they will be ok.

      James,

I grew up in a neighborhood where a Syrian family lived most of my childhood. I have a warmth in my heart for them because of this family. This family had three daughters and their only son,was the youngest, a brother. To my memory, it was the first smallest infant my eye gazed upon as a very young child: beautiful soft brown colored babe, silky black feathey infant hair laying flat upon the head.

I found that pic in Google and I loved it.I thought it would fit those few lines. Thanks for your concern and time .Few are those who care about Syrian tragedy. The whole world is watching coldly from a distance. Where is our emotional intelligence, our sense of collective justice? Aren't Syrians humans? My God !almost 200 000 people are killed, most of them kids.

      James,

Hard to bear. The pic you chose to present these fabulous lines evoke your tenderness in the Syrian city, did you illustrate it? Could not such an extraordinary message with that pic be made into posters, pickets, somewhere?

      christinemarie,

Thanks for the visit.I appreciate it.It saddens me so much to see Syrian kids dying from the cold in refugee camps, vulnerable to trafficking, begging on the side of the road, left orphaned and out of school, girls sold into marriage.
