Origin of Slender Man and who he is

Slender Man is depicted as a thin, unnaturally tall man with a blank and usually featureless face he is seen wearing a black suit. Stories of the Slender Man commonly feature him stalking, abducting, or traumatizing people, these people are usually children. The Slender Man is not set to a single comic or meme but there are different stories or comics composed of him, mostly composed online. Slender Man has been viral for some time now. Different authors have taken the character and gone in different directions with him. He has been displayed in many different creepy and distasteful articles. He is all over the site "creepy pasta" and continues to be a growing web creation. Many people have put there own twist on Slender Man, their have been different origin stories and many different ideas to what Slender Man really is. The Slender Man's fictional mythology has evolved without having a canon storyline making it difficult to fully understand his origin. His thought, powers, mind set are never constant, they vary based off the storytellers point of view. He is commonly described as very tall and thin with unnaturally long, arms in some cases they are described as tentacles though this is definitely not a fixed representation of him. His arms can extend to intimidate or capture his prey which often children. He has a white, featureless head and appears to be wearing a dark suit and tie. The Slender Man is associated with the forest, he has different abilities, however, one that seems to be a constant is his ability to teleport. Slender Man is often said to cause something called "Slender sickness." This will cause a person to feel paranoid and extremely uneasy. It causes nightmares and delusions accompanied by horrific mind tricks and nose bleeds. This fame is really accredited to the internet. A simple comic creation has taken this character to strong levels of infamy. Their are many strange myths to the idea of Slender Man and even though he is considered to be a web character their are those who say he is based off of someone real. People have speculated that the Slender Man story is going through a very well known character and storytelling situation. This means that the character is going through constant changes. Every time the story is told something different develops and certain things are gain while other forgotten.

Slender Man based of videogames?

Some people say that Slender Man is a character from a few different horror based videogames. Some say that he has been games dating as far back "Sweet Home" an unreleased Japanese horror rpg made for the Nintendo entertainment system. Yet, the most popular game that Slender Man is said to exist is Amnesia: the Dark Descent. This was until someone made an online horror game called Slender. Now with that out people are playing games with this mythos developing into a very well-known and strangely like character. For some reason he has gained the same level of admiration that characters from the original clock Tower Like Scissor Man have received. The difference of course was that Scissor Man started off as a video game character not as a mythos. Now the scary part about Slender Man is that people aren't just reading about him and being fearful of him like they would say Freddy Krueger. No people are a actually interested in the Slender Man as someone of intrigue. People aren't finding this character to be just another bad guy and the problem begins when there is a cult following of this character.Though, I guess it is true that people want to be like their favorite super heroes I won't blame anyone for their opinion. With the popularity of Slender Man their are now costumes available online to dress like him. People have dressed up like him for Halloween and honestly I think its just for shock value and trying to be the first. The weird part abut this character is there really isn't too much about him outside of his crazy antics on the internet. I mean he has multiple back stories but there is no concise one or one that people can use as the true story. Again, we don't get to hear much about the mind of Slender Man. We know he does things that aren't good in most cases. He is definitely creep considering most of what he does is bother children. I mean in a sense it's wrong in so many ways when your main goal is to terrorize children. So why the character has the kind of popularity he has is well beyond me. Perhaps it gives people something to try to figure out. Through out history people have been very enamored with "The Bad Guy." you can check my article out on that (http://joedolphin88.hubpages.com/hub/why-do-we-root-for-the-bad-guy). The problem here is he isn't really the bad guy in a sense but rather a person with creepy and bad intentions.

Is Slender Man to blame for stabbings

A 12 year old Waukesha girl survived being stabbed 19 times. She was found on Saturday May 30th by a bicyclist. Two classmates that are only 12 years old were arrested and told police they were inspired by a creepy, fictional character known as Slender Man. The Slender Man had been displayed to them on this site and they said they wanted join his realm. Creepy Pasta has gone and apologized to the families of those involved. He has shown statements stating that in no way is any story on the site real, that they are fictional. He also stated that what is on there is used for entertainment purposes not be taken literally. We are not a satanic cult just a literature site, was also said. One suspect Anissa E. Weier had told police that "Slender Man is the leader of Creepypasta, and in the hierarchy of that world, one must kill to show dedication." Weier also stated that fellow suspect Morgan E. Geyser told her "they should become proxies of Slender Man and kill their friend to prove themselves worthy of him." Weier said, "she was surprised by Geyser's suggestion, but also excited to prove skeptics wrong and show that Slender Man really did exist." Strangely the idea here for these girls as stated is that they wanted join Slender Man since he controls everything. This seemed very strange considering the mythos is definitely being changed. There has been a wide array of criticism floating around. One police officer said "this should be a wakeup call to all parents." He also said, "you need to monitor what your children are not only reading but watching online." There is a lot of defense comments being made as well. Some people have said that is the same people who believe video games or violent movies cause mass murderers. It only takes one or two crazies to make something entirely demonized. It is difficult to believe that a couple of twelve year old girls would do this. Firstly, how bored were these girls to go and do something like this to someone. Also apparently they had been working and plotting to do this for over four months. These was not a spur of the moment things that may have landed these girls in juvenile hall. This was seriously premeditated. These girls are being tried as adults for attempt of first degree murder. Defense attorneys are trying to claim that the girls are crazy. But, in a way they just seem fascinated with something evil. It's hard to say what is running through there heads. I am on the defense though. These girls are obviously messed up in the head. I can't blame a made up character for this. Slender Man didn't do the stabbing these two girls did. If we blame all facets of media we are just trying to scapegoat the fact that some people are just screwed up. I think the character deserves a pass, these two girls do not.
