Some Brittle Words
Brittle Words.
Brittle words I feel as if at...
any moment they could shatter,
if I sing one single note too high
but if they did.... what would it matter....
Because my brittle hearts been broken,
it only bleeds out fragile thought
with your bittersweet words spoken...
that destroyed the love we sought.
Chorus-
It's absurd to think that any song
my calloused hands could play.
would convince you to come back to me,
but I'll sing it anyway.
This tear strained voice,
so full of trembling
will never hold much hope to sway,
our sweet love from disassembling,
but it's all I've got to say.
and so I play......
My brittle heart, my brittle words,
are not the things you want to hear,
they both lie crushed by cruel rejection
like a brick against a mirror,
True love once graced with silver linings,
now smashed in pieces on the floor,
my soul has no way of defining
a life without you evermore....
yet still I write....
because it takes so long for love to die,
crippled by loneliness each night,
it helps to ease my pain with every sad refrain,
perhaps someday I'll get it right...
Chorus-
Though it's absurd to think that any song
my calloused hands could ever play.
could convince you to come back to me,
but I'll sing it anyway.
This tear strained voice,
so full of trembling
will never hold much hope to sway,
our sweet love from disassembling,
but it's all I've got to say.
and so I write....
