Poetry - Poem about the coming and going of followers - 'Someone stopped following me yesterday'

Updated on June 14, 2016

What is wrong?

Why am I suddenly losing followers? 3 down in 3 days - I don't know why...I've been trying to improve my hubs by following all the new guidelines, to no avail...

I would love to work on my novel but it takes time to change all your google images to something more acceptable properly cited.

If you are a follower who is about to stop following me please tell me why so that I can try to improve my hubs.

Just a little ditty I threw together one morning

Someone stopped following me yesterday

I wonder why they have gone away

Have they found that my hubs

Are all full of grubs

And they decided its right not to stay

Someone stopped following me I don’t know who

I check through my followers but can’t see you

I feel hurt, I feel pain,

will it drive me insane?

I really don’t know what to do

Someone stopped following, I’m not sure why

I feel so sad, it hurts so bad, I just want to die,

What’s wrong with my work,

Am I just a big jerk

I’ll just sit in the corner and cry.

Tomorrow I.’ll forget all the pain of today

Tomorrow I’ll continue to write away

I’ll review all my hubs

Remove all those grubs

And perhaps all my followers will stay.

All comments appreciated.

I am spending so much time trying to improve all my old hubs, adding content, changing all the google images to something else (cited) adding images, trying to accommodate all the new rules and regulations and in 3 days I have lost 3 followers...one needs to develop octopus skills in order to do everything including commenting on everyones hubs and returning comments. Alas...not enough hours in the day to take care of old folks, houses and hubpages..happy hubbing!

This is a great poem Leni Sands. I was reading one of Website Examiner's hubs where you revealed that you were upset by losing a follower. Well now that I have found you and read some of your poetry, I would like to follow you. Hope that's okay?!

Leni Sands, it's OK, really. To grow, we must learn to endure the inevitable losses we will incur. This is, after all, the Internet. Sometimes, people close their accounts - I have lost several followers this way. Sometimes, they move on. Since I interact quite a bit with writers as an editor, critic, and mentor, I often put myself on the line, and I lost some of the followers that I cared about the most and worked for the hardest. But it is all part of a growth process. Like you say, tomorrow is another day, and you will be stronger and richer for it in the end. Great poem!

Jess Killmenow - sad but true!

Justsilvie - thanks its good to have you along.

MartieCoetser - thanks its nice to know that I am not the only one who is saddened when someone stops following. My confidence given a little jolt by it but all these wonderful people have given me a reason to carry on hubbing. Nice to have you along as well.

What a surprise to find another hubber who is shocked because she lost a follower. I lost one so far, and I was devastated when I saw she was gone. I spent a lot of time to determine who she was. Because I thought knowing who the hubber was, will enable me to determine my share in the tragedy. Although I traced her eventually – after wrecking my brain and spending a lot of time – I was not able to identify the possible crime I committed against her.

But this was only a lesson I’ve learned. Another realization that my ego was once again my master instead of my common sense. I will forbid myself to feel bad again when somebody stop following me. I can’t change myself to please another hubber who obviously don’t like my writings, or perhaps just regarded me as one of those that could be deleted in order to create more order. I honestly don’t want followers who don’t want to follow me. The choice is theirs. I can just keep on being myself.

So Leni, I am your new follower, and I’m sure I’m going to enjoy your hubs. Take care.

Elefanza, thank you for your comment.

The Suburban Poet, I do worry that I might have offended someone because that is not in my nature. I have since been reassured by all these lovely people. Thanks for your comment.

Ha. That made me laugh only because I had the same experience, same sentiments, same worries. Later, I found out that the person had been removed from hubpages. But I think I shall try to keep writing the stuff as I see it...otherwise, there can be no honesty in what I present. Enjoyed the poem!

Nice poem leni, don't worry about followers, like kathryn1000 says, they come and they go. You'll find those serial followers who follow thousands of hubbers in a few minutes trying to boost their followers, end up dropping of the Hubspectrum. The whole hub followers thing reminds me of my hub called, "Why won't you follow me". Here is a little responsive poem for you:

    My followers have left, goodbye,

well what am I supposed to do?

    maybe they followed too close,

now they have gone boohoo :(

    ...

My follower ought to be loyal,

and put up with my hubbing demands,

so come back my beloved hubber,

don't quit following me, leni sands!

It wasn't me, as I just found you and am now following you so let me be that replacement for the one that fell over the edge:0)) Love this cute poem, it rocks. Don't let losing a follower bother you, there are so many more who will find you to as I have done. Peace and hugs from the Saddle

So cute lol. I've lost a couple followers too. It seems to be the ones who just start following hubbers like crazy and then they eventually go away. I usually look at their hubactivity and if say they follow 20 people in 3 minutes time I expect to lose them soon.

just mark me down, and I will stick around

To follow you from time too time

No one can be that mean can they? At least i'm crossed off the suspects list and if it's true they gave you the idea of a new 'different than anybody else in the world' hub. Cheers leni I'm still struggling with poem about aboiled eggs, but i'll crack it.
