Something about my Mother
We grew up knowing her as Father, she was always there for us and made sure that we got almost everything we ever asked. She was the Mother and the Father, she was our everything. There was no day she failed to take us to school by herself, Mother was the foundation of our lives.
I was only three and i knew that there was no Daddy around but she occupied the space, the vacuum created by our Father's demise affected us just because we never felt the touch of a Father but for his love, our Mother balanced it and every other thing.
There were times when the road was rough
But she walked the rain to feed us
She rode us daily to church
Something about my Mother
She was never tied
She gave us the best
She had no limit
To be a mother is a task
She ran a small business
She made beautiful dresses
Our future was guaranteed
Because she stood firm for us
I was 14 years when suitors began coming for me but my Mother refused giving me out despite the challenges, she wanted to give me one life insurance which is better than marriage; Education. She knew that i won't get it if she give me out, she wanted a medical doctor and also a lawyer, she watched us and as of my kid brother, he understood.
It was a journey we walked as family because she taught us moral and never deprived us one other good thing; Religion. She read the Bible continuously and even while sowing new dresses, there was always a verse from the Bible to keep us strong so most nights when there was no food,we already understood that Man does not survive by bread alone.
Sweet mother, you are the light in us
Words are not enough to thank you
You made lots of kept promises
Mother you never broke your words
Something about my Mother
Something about my Mother
You are the greatest love
You never forget to say you care
You never let us down
Mother you are our aspirator
What else will i say about you?
Well, this thing about my mother is that something about my mother that makes me feel on top of the world is that Barrister Chris my younger brother calls her sweet while i call her Jewel. She looked at me on my graduation day and said this to me
- Grace, now that you have graduated from the medical school, your duty is to save lives but there is one person you really have to save all your life.
I saw the seriousness in her,she has never talked to me that way my entire life so out of curiosity, i asked her who this person is and this was what she said...
-Daughter, i have gotten a pretty lady out from my young shy daughter, your Father would be proud of you watching down from heaven so your husband to be is the person you should try to save all your life.
My mother taught me so many things and above all to be a good woman.
