Something Tells Me
Musing about Life
Something tells me
that life is a story
with yesterday, a lesson in history
Today, a new act for posterity
and tomorrow still wrapped in mystery
with corruption everywhere
men looting everything to share
with leadership, a terrible sham
and our Nation - a big, unproductive farm!
With love reduced to mere semantics
One and all playing the sport of gymnastics
Brother, Sister, Father - betrayer
And mother, known negatively throughout the area.
Divorce, as regular as the next clean breath
and Suicide - the latest exit strategy - death.
Hope no longer rising in breasts oppressed
and sorrow hanging like a forlorn crest
There's no improvement in the plight of the poor
The rich get richer and still find time to go to war
Children are abandoned to fate - no less
As adults frustrate the generation they are meant to bless
Extra-marital affairs - a must for today's society
Abhorrent deeds mar the face of a once trusted posterity!
Pain is palpable as the world seems to crumble
With Haiti, Pakistan and Thailand taking an environmental tumble
Something tells me that we are on the verge of insanity
And I greatly fear for this present race of humanity!
