Song Lyrics - Am I Ready For Love?

Updated on June 7, 2011
Source

As I moved closer to you
You stopped me with your calm
Your heart wanted to talk about love

I said look into my eyes
Look to see what you have found
Don’t you believe in my love?

Her heart is calling
But is it me?
Her heart is crying
Is it because mine will flee?

She looked at me
As my passion was at her door
She wanted to know if I knew about love

I said feel my beating heart
She said it's because I touched you
Tell me if you can fall in love

Her heart is breaking
Is it because of me?
Her heart is waking
She is ready for me

I’ve always been a dreamer
Living on my imagination
But tonight what was imagined
Has become an invitation

But can I go where never before?
Where never before my heart has gone
Can I forget about every woman I see?
Or will I cut you down like grass on the lawn?

I could give you all my money
So you can buy all that you desire
Or you can give it all back to me
And see if I will set your heart on fire

She touched me with her calm hand
As the shadow of my hesitation loomed
She knew I wasn’t ready for love

Her heart is closing
Is it because I lost the key?
Her heart is sinking
It’s because I can’t set her free

Thank you Cogerson - yes it is a bit sad but the man in this instance brings in on himself because he won't commit. Why not? Is it a flaw? Is he too selfish? He seems to be willing to fly by night....

I think many relationships end because one partner is unwiling to commit, although they don't really want to hurt the other person.

Well done, I really enjoyed this.

@Majadez - Thank you for commenting. Yes that's true... sometimes it's the old "I think I love you more than you love me" problem. Some folks can love but not commit for whatever reason. Uh... maybe that's me...

Nah, it's not just you. I think that happens quite often & not only in the movies. ;)

Wow this is music to my ears. I loved the flow right from start to finish. This reminds me of a quote that i read the other day... "The path to true happiness and love is to risk being completely cut open."

@RealHousewife - well it's a good thing you didn't meet this guy or you would be called RealOldMaid.... He can't commit... he just can't....

@Majadez - Well that's good to hear... I thought it was just me but apparently I have company... Sometimes I feel very different. The other night someone told me they thought humans were meant to have compionship and I wondered about that because I didn't feel that it described me...

@Kavita - Thank you! That is an interesting quote and I pretty much agree with it. You can't worry about being hurt. A relationship is not built around hedging your bets....

Hi SP, I love your song. It does go both ways though ya know. Sometimes its the woman who can't/won't commit. I find myself on that threshold too, and agree with Majadez, you don't want to hurt the other person. But who says that you have to commit to something, isn't an agreement to keep things here okay. Why must relationships always come to a point when someone wants to box you in? It sounds fun at first, or sounds like it would be nice, but when you get to really think about it - it freaks me out. I guess its sad, but for who?

      Great song.

@Erin - I agree that you don't have to commit but sometimes one or the other needs that. It's unfortunate because I need to know how tomorrow is going to be can ruin today. Till death do us part seems to be an old fashioned concept and while it sounds wonderful maybe it puts too much pressure on a couple. If it's working then why change things? I don't want to box anyone in and I don't want to be pressured either.
