Song Lyrics - Wish Away

Updated on August 31, 2011

This was an unfinished piece (Wish Away lines) from a couple of years ago. This morning I woke up with the first four lines in my head from a dream. Then I filled in a few others. When you are dreaming like this you know you are receiving a gift from somewhere because I have no control over that. Anyway maybe Justin Timberlake or someone like that could do something with this... with a smooth vibe....

Are you looking my way
As you walk on by?
Are you gonna stay?
Are you gonna say goodbye?

Wish away, wish away, wish away
You can't wish love away
Go away, go away, go away
Why won't you just go away?

Your love for another man
Will destroy me in the end
How long can I pretend
That he is just your friend?

Wish away, wish away, wish away
You can't wish love away
Go away, go away, go away
Why won't you just go away?

It would be better to hate you
Then at least it would be done
But instead I had to love you
And ask if I am the one

Wish away, wish away, wish away
You can't wish love away

Go away, go away, go away
Why won't you just go away?

You told me you push him away
In the bed where love is made
But night after night you go to him
How can love be such sweet fiction?

Wish away, wish away, wish away
You can't wish love away
Go away, go away, go away
Why won't you just go away?

I’m not strong enough for this delusion
There can be only one conclusion
I fell in love with the wrong woman
She’s leaving me alone with my emotion

Wish away, wish away, wish away
You can't wish love away
Go away, go away, go away
Why won't you just go away?

Wish away
It's a part-time love
Go away
Who do you think of?
Wish away
It's a part-time love
Go away
Who do you think of?
Wish away
Wish away
Wish away
Go away
Go away
Go away
Just go
Just go
Just go
Just go (whispered softly.....)

Thank you Amy... yes the feelings are in there... wishing love away is an impossibility because you love them... how can you talk yourself out of it when they are everything you want? You look for something negative but it's not there... except the other man...

      Nikii,

You didn't say anything wrong... no way... you brought me pride with what you said...

I need to go to sleep and see what happens! Ha... what a way to write huh?

There is some real life in this... a love triangle where a person can't bear to think the one he loves is still having to pretend to love someone else while they assure you that you are the one....

      I'm with everyone!

If I were Britney spears or SOMEBODY

I would definitely see the great potential in this song!

      All your songs!

Brian McKnight is the best, I hope I didn't say anything wrong.

You definitely should check into writing songs.

      Very nice

      encore, encore!!!!

Hi Ulrike... thank you and I'm not going to hide these things. It was wierd as I laid there thinking about the first two lines especially over and over. I called my office and recited the lines over the phone on my voice mail and went back to sleep. Then when I went in they were waiting for me and I put it together. I hope there is some destiny but if this hub is the end then I'm glad for that because the nice words feel great. I can't lie about that.

      Pachuca,

First I have to tell you that I smiled when I saw your name. I moved to Laredo, Texas in 1970 which, as you may know, is on the Mexican border. My Dad still lives there and I'll be going down next weekend. Pachuco was a name I hadn't heard in a long time and it always kind of had a tough, street-wise feel to the term. I read about your former lover and you have had a tough life and I admire your love and pride in your heritage.

I know you meant everything in a good way and I appreciate you and Nikii thinking this song is legitimate. My hope is that someday a real musical artist would want to work with me like Elton John who worked with a famous lyricist named Bernie Taupin....

Hey... I'm a poet so dreaming is what I'm all about...

Brian McKnight is a fabulous singer/song writer and composer. I have been a fan of his since the early 90's even before he started to get a following. He didn't get famous until around 99ish and he is into soft jazz and r&b style. But let me tell you...he is good. So I meant it in a good way by saying your work was Brian McKnight worthy material! =)

      Hey Nikii,

Thank you for the complements. Writing professionally would be everything to me but I'm in a wave of creativity right now and I don't really know anyone or what to do but keep writing. Maybe something will happen but if not posts such as yours are good enough. Believe me. It feels great to hear you say things like this.

      I'll check out that song....

      UP UP UP!

wow why dont you write songs as a profession?

this is something I could jam to and attempt to write..

      wow lolol

      Justin Timberlake is more up to date;

      Brian Mcknight is old school

      like the 80'S baby!

      You should download the song

      "Anytime" by him.

      beauuutiful!

Thank you Pachuca... maybe I have it wrong on the performer... I don't even know who Brian McKnight is (I'm 52 alas)... I'll look him up. But I appreciate your comments.

I don't like Justin Timberlake, but other than that I loved this poem! I think someone like Brian McKnight could make this sound as beautiful as it is read!
