Song of Empowerment

Updated on June 16, 2012
Source

The cry within my soul

Yearns for someting more.

What will make me whole

Please show me the door.

Success is what I desire,

Failure seems to cling.

My body is on fire,

Confused I must sing.

"Will not throw in the towel,

This battle I shall win.

Failure seeks to devour,

Its demise I will bring.

Failure, you I will conquer,

Do not ask me how.

You I will overcome,

When I take that final bow.

Josh, you're definitely not a failure, especially after writing this. :-) You're only one if you want to be. A beautiful, motivational poem.

I really enjoyed reading this. I had to read it a few times with different speed and breaks to really let it sink in. I love when I can do that to poetry because it takes on a life of its own when I do that. Great job!

Failure is just a tough lesson sometimes. Its when we don't pick ourselves up and try again is when we are called failures.

When I think of failing, I always think of Babe Ruth. They asked him how he got to be such a home-run king. He said he had struck out more than anyone else.

      Voted up and awesome.

I think a lot of people can relate to this poem. It has a great message and the structure really works for you.

On a random side note I am glad I found this poem and answered for myself the mystery of the origins of the KUBB hub! I must say I am enjoying reading the back and forth between you and TToombs in the comments of various hubs :-)

Hahaha, that is too funny, all her fault! Lets blame her and not our addiction to HubPages! :) hehe

Don't you think we should blame her? :p Don't tell her though; it is our little secret! lol

P.S. Nice to meet you Melissa, new hub friend :)

So happy to hear that your smiling Josh.

This has been quite the comical adventure thanks to TToombs ,who my family is not amused with since my raucous laughter last night (while reading her hubs on bears and addiction), awoke the whole house.

      My name is Melissa.

Josh, this is a poem that hits very close to home with me. I find it very inspiring and quite beautiful. I'm very surprised to hear that this is only your second "choice" poem. You have a lovely written voice.

Just a little tip, be sure to douse the towel in pepper spray before throwing it at a bear, but I digress.

:) Hey random question, since we seem to have conversations irrelevant to our hubs :)

Have you ever played the game KUBB? I just played it today, and it is an excellent family outside game for all ages. I think I will be writing a hub about it.

That actually sounds like a LOT of fun. A lot like shingirisheye's hub about insanity and running around slapping people on the forehead...this is too tempting....must...have...control....now see what you started?!?!?! :)

Haha, If you could it sure would be funny! Imagine if you, myself, Billy, and a few others starting randomly posting comments from our hubs onto random hubs? It would be like mass HubPages confusion; I can see it now! :)

Josh...good poem, both for structure and content...voted up, interesting, and beautiful.

One "tweek"...add a comma after "Confused" in the second stanza, given the thought conveyed. Grace and peace!
