Sounds Of Summertime

Updated on June 29, 2017

For Everyone We Love

I hear the familiar voices of children laughing and playing outside

The cars slowly moving in bumber to bumber traffic

Having fun going shopping and out to eat

Put the books and the homework away

It's time when kids can stay out late every day

When work becomes a must

Cutting the green grass and planting beautiful flowers

Racing home from work after a long day

Enjoying the few hours of sunshine left

Weekends filled with beach walks and seeing swimmers in the water

Fresh peaches, plums and delicious watermelon

Vacation trips and a tan

The air conditioners cooling the hottest temperature down

From baseball games to short sleeves and shorts

The crystal blue pool water with an inner tube and a raft

Squirt guns and water balloons increase the fun

Every combination welcomes the next generation

Birds chirping during the day and crickets at night

I sit by my window and feel a breeze

My life is endless

Even though our days our numbered

It would be nice to remember

How we live our life

Memories of all the people we have met

The wonderful life we our blessed with

To my family and friends

This is only the beginning of a new journey

Not an end

With a new summer the old one must leave

We all have shared the good and the bad

It would be wise

To treasure the best times in our life and let the rest pass

Keep trying every way possible

To make each day last

Soon it will be my time

To move on and experience

Finding out what it is like

To enjoy everything so precious and rare

With every thought

I want to let you all know

How much you mean to me

When you shine

I will be with you

In the brightest light

I can hear the "Sounds of Summertime " as I read your SENSE-ational poem:-) It is lovely, and reminds me how very glad I am that summer is here! In the morning, the birds sing, and throughout the day, many more sounds come into play.

Gypsy Rose Lee I had to work but I celebrated early with a cookout over my aunts. Everyone had a great time swimming and eating. She has it every year. So nice to see family all together. Thank you for reading and sharing. Is it common to have all that rain ? Maybe the sun will come out tomorrow.

A wonderful write with great memories of lazy summer days. Here in Latvia we are having cool weather and almost never ending rain. I feel like summer has past us by and am starting to think thoughts about building an ark. Hope you had a fantastic Fourth of July weekend.

Tamara Yancosky I appreciate your comments and friendship. We each live our lives the best way we can. Making mistakes and facing challenges along the way. As the morning leads the day our actions and thoughts guide us in our life. Thank you for reading and sharing. Wishing you the best moment by moment.

DDE You are aware of the beauty in each day. Sadly enough many people look past all the magnificient wonders and find disappointment and grief. If they only knew the beauty that is inside of us trickles to the world around us. Then it is there to remind us. Enjoy all we have. Thank you so much for reading and sharing. It is so wonderful to have friends like you.

Peggy W Please do your best to stay cool in the extremely hot weather. Drink lots of fluids. Birds always lift me up when I am down. I watch them so content with eating or enjoying their day. Flowers of all different shapes and colors make each day burst in full color. Thank you for reading and sharing.

A resonance I hear out of your poem is prettiness of the summer and the joy of life bringing with it the most exciting experiences and memories which last and last enduring into infinity.

I enjoyed your Sounds of Summertime poem. In Houston the air conditioners are humming along now with the temperatures sizzling. But it is still fun watching the birds splash around in our backyard birdbath and watch a new nest being built in our birdhouse. The flowers planted in spring are so beautiful right now!

A lovely, breezy and encompassing poem.

I, too, love it when I am awoken by the birds in the morning. Then serenaded by the drumstick beat of the crickets at night. The front door open, letting in the soft light summer breeze-yummo.You fast forwarded me, there:) Cheers!
