Speak to Me of Life

Updated on August 14, 2015
Speak to Me of Life, a poem written in the lines of faces
Speak to Me of Life, a poem written in the lines of faces | Source

Stories are etched into lines.

each version of truth

finding its audience

in the alleys we travel in the dark.

Each line, a glory walk

on red plush.

I am drawn to those lines,

sorting my truths into tiny piles

setting fire to them, shedding light

on your eyes,

which speak to me of life.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm too noticeable when I look at people. I love to do that, I always imagine what their lives are like. I will look at a mother playing with her kid, and think; she seems a lot like me. I love to look and listen to older people the most I think. They are usually full of wisdom, some always so happy and cheerful, and it makes me pleased, because I know they have come to that place in life where they are just free to be. I see some who seem lonely, and, of course, this makes me super sad. I always examine their faces and wonder what they looked like in their younger years, and I also wonder what it was like to live in a different era. People are fascinating and all unique in their own way. This is a very beautiful poem, Audrey! :)

Amazingly, when each of us reads something, we inject our own version of what it means to us. Clearly, it is the freedom of the mind of each individual. A wonderful piece, as always.

What a fascinating story one could read in the lines on the face of that photo you included. Freud believed that the eyes are the window to the soul. I think he would agree that the lines in the face tell you quite a bit, too.

Very expressive. I can't help but think of how every line in a person's face tells a story. As they say, the eyes are the windows of the soul.
