Speak to Me with Gentle Words

Updated on January 11, 2013

Speak to me with gentle words

I want to hear butterfly wings

Not clanging cymbals

Loud crashing cymbals ringing the night air

I want to hear cotton fall

Light wisps floating to the ground

Soft feathers of kindness

Telling me it is all well

I am battered by the world

Beat up by a cruel foe

That prances around daily

A lion with mouth open wide

Instead, hold me like a shepherd

Like a lamb lost to the night

Destroy not my will to live

Speak to me with gentle words

I want to hear butterfly wings.

Voted up and beautiful. A wonderful and delightful poem. Love and quiet bliss nothing like it. Passing this on.
