Stepping up; A poem about growing through high school

Updated on March 3, 2012
Source

So this is the day

You have been waiting for

To graduate from a freshman

To be a "big" sophmore!

No more pushing

From that upper classmate

For now it is your turn

To follow the trait.

Remember to keep it

All in fairness and fun

For it wasn't so long ago

That you were one.

Always keep that smile

That you wear so very well

Because no matter what anyone might say

It does seem to help, when all else might fail.

I know it will seem so easy

To just push out the past

For the present looks so much brighter

And the days you've longed for have come at last

But I hope you will try to treasure

The things you thought were so odd

For one day you will look back

And will want to remember this path

That you once trod!
