STEPS

With every step

I’m reminded of tiny feet

stretched upward in the crib

and the gurgling laughter

when excited eyes first caught

them.

With every step you take

I see the little feet

that stepped high into the air

to stretch past the sidewalk cracks

during lazy afternoon walks.

With every step you take up

I remember the other big steps

of T-ball, and starting school,

First Holy Communion,

and your first dance.

With every step you take up those stairs

and toward that rolled diploma

I realize

your steps must continue,

And wish that we could take

a few

steps

back.

Too fast and too quick, Jodah. Thank you for your kind words.

Beautiful words Donna. Time goes fast and our children grow up quick. Nice tribute.

If only Bill, if only. And thank you for stopping by. I'm trying to get control of some things in my life, and start having some time to write -- or at the very least revisit some old writings. I feel like I am behind in so many things. I'm hoping to change that during spring break! Thanks for commenting!

Lovely words, Donna! Wouldn't it be lovely to roll back the hands of time?
