Strangers' Musings: Rictameter Poems
Background
The two rictameters depict the thoughts that casually slip in the minds of two strangers who stand side by side, either waiting for a train at a station or traveling in a late-night empty bus. The protagonist in the first rictameter is an old lady with rich experiences in life, who looks at the young woman standing next to herself and drifts off to her own younger days. The second rictameter steals the thoughts of the young woman who admires the older woman and regards her with respect.
The Poems
Her eyes
Shine in the light
Sparkling beauty beckons
The gleeful days of tender youth
I was there, with the world beneath my feet
Waiting for my prince in the rain
Not a care, except love
As flaunts behind
Her eyes
***
Wisdom
Like my granny
Radiates from her frame
Speaks volumes behind her wrinkles
Half as wise, if I ever grow to be
As my hair turns all shades of grey
Kiss I will her chaste palms
And learn of her
Wisdom
