"Strung up and Strung Out"

Updated on February 9, 2018

"When the burdens of this world tie us down, we have no choice but to break free, or let them drive us into the ground."

Bellawritter23 used this picture for one of her poems "Choked But Not Strangled" and I liked the picture so much I just had to write my own poem to it. Hope you like Bella!

I can't take it anymore.
Its driving me insane.
The montrosities of this
day and age.

I feel the weight of this world,
pulling me down.
I feel the burden of it all,
stringing me around.

Attaching to my skin,
Pulling me in.
I'm strung up and strung out,
Its wearing me thin.

My body's contorting
as I fight to get out.
Against my will it drives me,
into the ground.

But I am stronger than this.
Strings can be broken,
Undone and unraveled,
as quickly as I've spoken.

These strings may be incorporated
by the sin and filth of this world,
but they are no match,
for the love and strength in this girl.

I will break free from the cobwebs,
the chains that bind me.
Naked and unashamed,
in a new life you'll find me.

No strings attached.

yea i catch em a lot too i dont usually say anything unless its really bad. i tend to try not to put errors on mine. i edit and re-edit before publishing. and then i go over it again and if i see something i messed up on i fix it.

There are many tiny errors in many hubs I've read that gnaw at me. I guess I'm just OCD with that.

I try not to point them out, at risk of seeming critical.

      Very nice Nikki.

It reminds me of Robert Frost's poem "The Silken Tent."

Good job and you're right the picture fits...

Dark stuff. Glad you feel able to fight your way through. It flowed well for me, until the last two paragraphs; I got sort of tangled up there.

Thanks for checking out so many of my hubs. Your feedback is fun.
