Softly speak these faltering lips
Of welcomes and goodbyes.
Have found some friends for keeps
Like new acquainted ties.
Lacking in this speech defect
A perfect sounding tune.
Tongue in err may not reflect
In critics aren’t immune.
In written poetry I guess
Connect them through their eyes.
To speak may be a bit of mess
Each piece where the truth lies.
