Sundae Satisfaction - poem
Who says sundaes are just for kids? Adults can enjoy them too.
What’s your favorite? Hot fudge? Butterscotch? One scoop or two? Three? You devil!
Sundae Satisfaction
Cold mounds of deliciousness
Smooth sweet syrup
slides down slowly
Soft peak of whipped topping
Single cherry
balanced carefully on top
You hesitate to disturb
something so beautiful
Just the cherry to start
A bit of topping clings to it
You place the candied fruit
On the tip of your eager tongue
That first taste
Brings a smile to your lips
Childlike and giddy
It leaves you wanting more
You give in to desire
Just a little taste
The tip of your spoon
A nick in the firm cream
Flavors grace your tongue
Sweet topping
Cold cream
melting in your mouth
You dig in
deeper this time
Syrup dripping from your spoon
Gets on your chin
Biting cold goes to your head
You don’t care
Flavors are melding
Heaven dancing on your tongue
Mounds begin to soften
As their temperature rises
Easier now to take from them
Heaping spoonful after spoonful
The bite of the cold is less now
You wipe your chin
Digging in again
Slowly but deeply
Fullness is creeping in
But you continue
You can’t stop now
So close to finishing
Greedily you search
For every last bite
Only sweet liquid remains
Of cream once firm and cold
You cast off the spoon
Hands on the dish
You raise it to your lips
Drinking every last drop
Satisfaction!
