Sweet Sweet Memories

Updated on October 15, 2010

I found myself the other day

Taking a trip back down memory lane

Listening to the Temptations, Four Tops,

Smokey Robison and the Miracles

Sweet memories rush back to a time

You were young and innocent

Didn’t know the evils of the world

Would slowly creep in

And turn your innocence to something vulgar, tragic

I still see you laughing telling your sorry jokes

I can hear your strong voice sing off key to the

Now oldies but still the best of goodies

Never had the chance to say good bye

Say I forgive you

A little girl by no means forgetting her hero

In my eyes you shined even though looking through yours

I can now see the demons that plagued you

I wish I could have filled that void you must of

Felt when your shadow suddenly vanished

But you were never alone

He was always with you standing right

There alongside of you

Your grief may have been too

Strong to feel his presence

Oh those memories, memories, sweet, sweet

memories of days gone by and made me cry

memories ,memories, sweet memories,

That made me sad and takes me back to you

Memories to echo that great

Line from the Temptations

But let me tell you this you’ll always

Be my hero and this my brother is

My tribute to….You

This is so well done and so very heartfelt. Your emotion shows through in every line and, I think, it is that very emotion that makes this truly beautiful.

What a tearjerker. Reminded me so much of episodes in my life and that of my younger brother.

Your words flowed beautifully, winding into memories if those old songs.

      Loved it. Thank you.x
