THAT'S LIFE...THAT'S LIFE By b. Malin

Life according to me...

They say "Birds of a feather flock together"...How about us people? Do we in turn pick our Friends, or Lovers, or Husbands, or Wives by our own mirror imagines? God, I hope not, and yet, I know we've all seen people who seem to look alike. For example, husbands and wives as they get older. And of course we've all seen dogs and their owners who have an erie resemblance. I personally think Cats would be a little creepy if they did. Although mannerisms are a different story...My father, may he rest in peace, and my Cat George, (GEORGE THE WHORE CAT, for those that remember my hub on him) may he rest in peace...Both had one funny eye, and they both growled when they walked!

And Life, what's that all about? We live it, we go through it...some of us in deep fog, never looking up, never smelling the roses...while others take it all in. Are they the "lucky ones"? Who are you? Who am I?

The other day, Lover Man and I are walking along the boat path looking at all the beautiful Yachts. It's been COLD here in Florida Land, so we are bundled up. We both notice at the same time, a lone "Pelican" sitting on a wood post that is sticking out of the water. We study him as he studies us...the three of us are silent. Lover Man says, "I wish I had my Camera"...I'm thinking the same...The Pelican, stretches, looks around and then goes back to his sitting position. I'm wondering if he had a date, and she stood him up, or if he's waiting in the wrong Marina...If he's anything like our Men when it comes to directions...I'm just saying.

We've taken up "Bike Riding" and feel the need to explore the land, which we have done so locally. Everyone said, "get a "Hitch" for your car, then you can go ANYWHERE, think of the possibilities", and so we did. One of Life's little expenses became the "Hitch" for the car, and the "lightweight aluminum bike rack for two"...Almost $1,000. later we are set. It's a sight to see, Lover Man attaching the bike rack to the hitch. And then the bikes. i've learned from past "projects" not to be ANYWHERE near him until the task is complete. Of course what goes on must eventually come off...So once again I repeat NOT to be ANYWHERE near him during this procedure...LIFE has taught me that!

A friend suggested we try the "bike trails" at a park, not to far away by car. Wow, something new to try, we were game, we were exciting...However, as in Life, we also found out, we are NOT Bike Trail people...It was NOT FUN...I kept thinking we would pop a tire on the stone trails and some of them were down right CREEPY, and swampy...and really going FAR into the woods... And what if there were some Creepy People waiting to grab our BIKES! Ok, a bit overboard. However the Good part was, as we rode back to civilization, and the car...

While Lover Man was distracted with the bikes... And I was keeping my safe distance from him, I spotted 2 Beautiful Peacocks...Ok, the Male was Beautiful, the female had a Great Personality. But I'll bet she was Beautiful to him... Anyway you could tell they were enjoying Life, running across the road onto some nice green grass. Lover Man did not see them as he was deep in thought, trying to put the bikes back onto the bike rack... each time bringing a NEW Challenging experience to him. "Hey honey, I said, look at the Peacocks". No response, as he turned to me, looking annoyed for I'd DISTRACTED him from the bike rack, and the chore at hand. But then his expression changed as he saw them. Life was giving him a treat to enjoy and make him Smile. "Go get your Camera" i said softly...and for a Change, we'd actually remembered to bring it...And at that moment Life was good!

So what is "Life"?...it's these little moments...which don't cost us a thing, but a little time, and a big Smile.
