Amani is a university student who loves writing. I have been writing since I was twelve. I love writing.

I saw a bird yesterday . With some brightly coloured feathers, with a short straight beak. Black eyes. Tiny legged .

It was feeding like all other birds but in its own. As I walked by the bird didn't walk away or fly away. It just kept on pecking. A little slower than it had been doing a while back.I crept to it and didn't move. It just raised its head a bit. And not seeming disturbed the bird kept pecking. This caught me off-guard. Normally all birds would already be a kilometer away in the air.
I got closer. The bird didn't move. A little bit closer, it still continued pecking.

I got a little bit curious and wanted to see what would happen if I tried catching this bird.
I caught the bird!!!
I caught it.

In my hands it didn't struggle to get free , it was calm like it had been while on the ground. A little bit shocked by the behavior of the bird I opened my hands. It didn't fly. It stayed. With its eyes on me, wondering what the I was doing.

I put it back to the ground, to the same spot it had been pecking. And it got right back to pecking for a little bit more before it flew to a tree just a stone throw away.
I walked away. With my head still questioning what had happened...
A few hours later while I came back I found the same bird on the ground.. It wasn't pecking this time. It was looking for something if that's at all a thing a bird would do. . .... I ignored it went inside to get a wash. .. The bird was still there when I got out. So I fetched some rice in a small cup and poured it at the spot it had been pecking from earlier. And it found what it had been searching for. It started pecking for a short while before it flew back to some hole in the tree just a few meters away.
..... ...
Yesterday I had a difficult time trying to sleep. I couldn't make out what was with the bird. Cause it wasn't a normal bird. At some point I was even questioning myself if it was really a bird.I mean, I have seen birds. And there's definitely something bout this one.
..and I got to sleep somehow...
I fed the same bird this morning !! .
Am starting to believe that this is something have been doing for a while without knowing. I have been feeding this bird for a while I guess. I saw it at its feeding spot. And took some grains to it. ..
It pecked. And pecked a little bit more. ..
.. And I wanted to see what would happen if I tried catching it again today...
.. It didn't struggle, it was still calm like yesterday.!!
.. Then I held it to my face to look at its eyes.
.. ..some weird little eyes I saw.
They didn't move. They were weird black eyes lost in some dark abyss .
I wasn't sure I was dealing with a normal bird so I put it down... It pecked several times before it took flight. I watched it fly and hit the tree that had always been it's home or so I guess.. I saw it fall and hit the ground and bounce...

I ran to it and it was still breathing. And as if sensing my presence it stopped struggling. ....
.... It's eyes still didn't move but it was breathing... That's when I realized that this was a blind bird...
With broken wings, I couldn't let it be on its own. ...
Am housing a special bird . A bird I hadn't noticed in a while. Am taking care of a bird....
.. Am with a blind bird.
