Tupelo Honey
By: Wayne Brown
Like a gentle, quiet, spring rain, she made entry into the room
Each man there watched; desiring her; wanting to be her groom
Her dark hair dressed in ribbons flowing shiny in fine strands
A deep longing to touch her tresses stirred down to each man
When she entered a room, sheer beauty came along as well
A smooth motion moving together like the clapper to the bell
Beauty drawing eyes to see, no man could take away his stare
Each one imagining himself beside her; desiring to be there
Men could only wonder staring into her china blue eyes
If ever there was a chance to gain such as winning prize
Her smile, her charm, her light touch to one’s hand
Left a faint heart set to trembling deep inside the man
Just to have her in one’s presence; such a visual treat
A stunning, natural beauty trimmed in all that is sweet
A darling treasure to behold; an angel with hidden wings
A diamond shining its light from an array of pretty things
All eyes gazed on her beauty; like greed looks upon wealth
She was the picture of desire; sheer perfection in stealth
But she was above it all; actually she found it rather funny
Smiling, I took her hand in mine; my sweet little Tupelo Honey
