Holding a Star

Updated on January 7, 2010

Twinkle, twinkle little star

Why are you so very far?

In the night sky you are grand

I want to hold you in my hand

But you're far off and way up high

And I can't get into the sky

The best that I can ever hope

Is looking through a telescope

When I do you shine so clear

Then it seems you're very near

I wish I may, I wish I might

Hold a real star tonight

I walked along the ocean sand

I slow. I stop. And then I stand

I look down and on the ground

It was like a miracle I found

Lots of stars are right in reach

I gather starfish on the beach

Lovely stuff. Poetry that makes sense, and rhymes.
