Tagalog Phrases and Words

If you want to learn Tagalog or Filipino, know the most common Tagalog phrases and words, they are here I’ve complied and listed them in this hub, alongside their meanings and pronunciation.

I’ve made this hub to answer a request a long time ago. Due to hectic schedule, I only was able to publish it now. Hope this would help a lot of people who wanna learn the Filipino language or best known as Tagalog. If you want a word, a phrase or a sentence or anything you want to transtate from English to Tagalog, just post them in the comment section, I’ll reply I promise. :) Just so you’ll know, I am a Filipino and I know all those Tagalog terms in formal way or slang. Feel free to ask and I’ll be your Tagalog translator. :)

Tagalog Basic Pronouns

I – ako (ah-ko)

You – ikaw (ee-cow)

We – Tayo (tah-yoh)

He – siya (see-ya)

She – siya (see-ya)

They – sila (see-la)

His – kanya (kan-ya)

Her – kanya (kan-ya)

Them / Their – sa kanila ( sa ka-nee-la)

Thank you – Salamat (sa-la-mat)

Take care – Ingat (ee-ngat)

Sorry – Patawad (pah-ta-wad)

Good morning – magandang umaga (ma-gun-dhang oomaga)

Good afternoon – magandang hapon (ma-gun-dhang ha-pon)

Good evening – magandang gabi (ma-gun-dhang ga-bee)

How are you? – Kumusta ka? (Koo-moos-ta ka)

I’m fine – Mabuti naman ako. (mah-boo-tee naman ah-ko)

What’s the time? – Anong oras? (ah-nong oh-ras)

Who are you? – Sino ka? (See-no ka)

What’s your name? – Anong pangalan mo? (ah-nong pangalan moh)

I am…. Ako si…. (ah-ko see….)

Goodbye – Paalam (pah-ah-lam)


See you again – Magkita tayo ulit (mag-keeta tayo oohlit)

Call me – Tawagan mo ako (tawa-gun mo ah-ko)

Help! – Tulong! (too-long)

Fire! – Sunog! (soo-nog)

Stop! – Tigil! (tee-gil)

I love you – Mahal kita (ma-hal keeta)

I like you – Gusto kita (goos-to kee-ta)

I want to be with you – Gusto kitang makasama (goos-to kee-tang makasama)

I don’t love you – Hindi kita mahal. (heen-dee kee-ta mahal)

Happy birthday! – Maligayang bati! (ma-lee-gayang ba-tee)

How do you say I’m sorry in Tagalog?

How do you say I’m sorry in Tagalog? Here are the ways on how to say you’re sorry in the Filipino language.

I’m sorry. – Patawad.

I am apologizing. – Humihingi ako ng tawad.

I won’t do it again. –Hindi ko na uulitin.

Please forgive me. – Pakiusap, patawarin mo ako.

      Certain pronunciations seem to sound the same as Bahasa Indonesia, but the meaning differs... at the very least, you have improved my Tagalog vocabulary.. :)
