Stone buildings built with
hands worn, fingernails ripped
Molded brick
Stained glass windows
blown with hands much
the same
Mother and child
-- holy ghost
Sundays they pass around t
the dish
fill it to the rim
to buy their plot of
after death
-- and fix their stone
brick temple.
Down the street
on a corner
a woman digs through a garbage
can
for something to feed
herself and child
-- after their meal
she finds a grassy knoll
kneeling down they say a prayer
then find a cold stone corner
to sleep the night.
