Poem About Missed Opportunities: Looking Through The Window

Updated on June 16, 2013

As I looked through the window

I saw her

In all her ethereal bliss

Dancing like a pixie

In a field covered with snow

Twirling round in circles

Without a care in the world

My heart yearned

To know such freedom

And I looked upon her with awe

The smile on her face

So full of joy

It illuminated the sky

And melted away the frost

Of a cold winter’s day

If only the bell would ring

That I might leave

The confines of this classroom

And join her

But the seconds on the clock

Ticked away like hours

As each second passed

She began to fade

And I knew

I would never see

My lady dance again

i prefer to believe you WILL see her - again and again and again! At least, i hope so. I found out today that a dear cousin has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, so - today is a day i must believe that ALL is possible! Beautiful poem, P!

Wow that's tough. Well stay positive then, and don't let me get you thinking differently. I'm sorry to hear about your cousin.

Stunning poetry. You tell a whole story in so few words - yet each word is picked out and polished to make this really exquisite work. Love the image too - though the words said it all anyway. love ya, phillydrreamer!

Thanks Sheila I was listening to Cristophs Dream when I wrote this, and the music inspired this picture.
