I wish I could tell you

That I finally learned to breathe

That I pushed pass the pain

And learned how to fly free.

I wish you were here to see

What loving you did for me

I learned to face the world

And take hold of my destiny

I wish you could know this man

That I face in the mirror every day

Because he knows all the words

That I wanted to say

Way back then

When I couldn’t express,

All the things that I

Just needed to get off my chest.

About my love for you,

And how those waters ran so deep

Back then,

I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep

All I could do was love,

And all my love was for you

Now I have to close the door,

On another dream that never came true

But you know what

I still want to thank you.

Thank you for showing me

All the things that I never knew I could do

Like how to get over

A broken heart

Pick up the pieces

Make a new start

How to love stronger

And to always endure

But most of all I want to thank you

For teaching me

I deserved more.
